Looking for more ways to organize my jewelry! Suggestions?

I use Icecube Trays from the Dollarstore....work perfect !!!!!!

Use a 1/4 inch piece of plywood, whatever size you need, paint it, screw small cup holders into it and hang it up. make sure you arrange it zig zag for more area usage.

I bought a weekly pill container, a large one for elderly people to us. This is a wonderful way to store earrings, but could be used for chains etc.

I got the idea from a sister in law who took cool picture frames and put chicken wire where the glass would go - you can hang all your hook earrings and even small chains from this . If you add a few hooks to the sides or bottom you can hang necklaces or bracelets (even spare keys) and it can be hung on wall (not over a heat register) or if choose a deep enough frame can be set on the dresser.?

I took a double picture frame - 8x10 took the glass out of it and nailed the plastic mesh on back and stored my earrings on it and set it on my dresser. You can hang your hook earrings and also put your stud earrings on there and put the backs on them. All you have to do is close it and you have your earrings handy when traveling or moving.

I used clear top push pins to hang my necklaces. Cheap easy and something I had on hand. I put them on the back of the closet door.

Get a frame, take out glass, take the back board and add wadding cover thiswith velvet or other materials, staple the back. Add ribbon and open designed lace going across the width, staple tight. Put back back in frame hang. You now have some were to hang your necklaces, open catches of necklace to hang on ribbon. Brooches can be pinned on padded back, hanging earrings hang from lace. If you have studs, then put in a small jewellery bag and hang on ribbon.

You can also take a small wooden cultery draw, add cup hooks to top then hang on wall. You could line sections first with decorative papers.

I also use a standing mug holder for my rings.

I use an old tie rack for necklaces. Long and narrow it takes little space but holds lots of necklaces. It hangs opposite my bathroom mirror so I can easily grab a finishing touch when my makeup is complete.

I put a spring loaded drapery hanger (light weight) in my closet. Hangs about 30 necklaces.

My daughter takes a wooden clothes hanger covers it in wadding, then velvet, then she adds a button each end. The button stops necklaces falling off the velvet stops any slipping. Then fix to wall, or a handle on a wardrobe.

I use one of those hand towel stands. It's about 12"-15" tall and the actual towel bar is open on one end (on front and back) so you can just slip you necklace right onto it. Not sure if this makes sense but if you were looking straight down at it (from above) the little towel bar makes an S. So you can use the front bar as well as the back bar. Got it at Goodwill for a couple of dollars. Works for bracelets as well. I like it because you don't have to open and close the necklace to put it on the bar. Just slip it over the end.

For years I used one of these wooden, expanding mug racks that I found at a thrift shop. It hung on the wall adjacent to my closet and a full-length mirror. If you hang it at a slight angle the pegs will be offset to hold more necklaces freely.

Try 'search' on Hometalk for lots of ideas! I used a window screen..bathroom size,hung it on a wall,for earrings. Posted a picture. I used one of those S towel holders for necklaces ,before we moved,now there is no place for it.....so I got lots of small command hooks to put on the back of my closet door. I need to find a handy place for my earrings on the screen tho. Not many accommodating walls in this little house! Hope all these suggestions from everyone help...let us know what you do.

I bought a large resin deer head on sale after Christmas. I hang all my long necklaces on the antlers.

Here's an easy idea. Put your sets- earings, necklace, bracelet in a baggie. Each set is by itself and less likely to tangle. Then put it all in a nice box or tray. I have a satin cloth traveling bag for my jewelry. Now no more tangles. I just grab the bag and go. Or add what i want for the trip. Actually I use it most of the time, don't bother with a jewelry box.

How about using magnetite spice tins for jewelry if there is a window even better.

My mother had a group of women using egg cartons and someone important? told them not to use them as they carry bacteria so they used something else. Do not remember what they used since it has been a long time ago. I would not take a chance using the egg cartons. It is your choice and you opinion whether you use them or not. Just wanted to let everyone know.

I took a picture frame and streched cloth netting on the back and tacked it down. Hung it up in my walk in closet. The earrings are easily hung through the netting in pairs so you never have to be without one again. For my granddaughter I painted a frame pink and used pink netting. If you want you can glue small dowels for bracelets and necklaces.

Get some long ribbon ,2to3 inches wide, hang you earrings on them .hang them over your window curtain. It makes your room look like a jewel case.

I use a colored square of burlap that I hotglued over a hanger to put my pierced and hooked earrings on. I can see them all at a glance. Then I use a tie rack for necklaces and hang them off a shelf of my closet. All organized, visible and off the small counter and furniture spaces I have.

I took a bobbin holder I bought from The Container Store, which is made to fit onto a sewing machine table, and screwed it into my walk-in closet wall. I now hang all my necklaces on the 30 hooks, sorted by color, and can easily coordinate with the outfit I choose to wear from my closet.

I love the idea of putting chicken wire in a picture frame and hanging the jewelry on it. The necklaces would fasten around the wire and hang straight down.
