Can I incorporate regular wood furniture with a wrought iron bed?

This bed will be used in the master bedroom and will have a queen mattress. I would like to keep the dressers and night stands that I have. They are a mid-tone oak.

Yes, wrought iron can fit with any decor. If your furniture is a more contemporary style you can always "modern up" the bedstead with contemporary colors and linens.

Absolutely. To give my room a more vintage look, I used lamps with a metal base (found at Thrift Store for $7). My bed is dark metal. My daughter who likes more modern, used two different crystal ball lamps with her white metal bed and wood nightstands. See pics of lamps we used. Sorry don't have pic of rooms. So, yeah, let yourself go. Mix it up and reflect your taste with linens, lamps, different lampshade, wall art or nightstand pretties. If it makes you smile--it's right!

By all means mix iron and wood. You can throw in a painted piece into the mix if you like. However, I will caution you to make sure that the "wood" pieces work well together. Quite often it looks like things were "thrown together" without thought or knowledge. "Eclectic" does not mead that all of the cast-offs are going to work together...

  • Mix away! The different materials will only add to the visual interest of the room! Look at magazines to be inspired, perhaps a flea market decorating issue. Designers never pick matching pieces, so you are totally in the clear! Have fun!

Sure--there's no such thing as an iron dresser. I think.

Awsome look. I have country furniture with metal lamps.

  • Paint your wood the same color as the iron (black or bronze?) It will really pull them together! Black bedroom furniture is beautiful!
