TAKE MEASURES TO A 'RESTORE' OUTLET AND CHOOSE IF THEY FIT.

ALSO CONSIDER USING OLDE SHUTTER STYLED BIFOLD CLOSET DOORS, IF THEY FIT. YOU CAN ADJUST THE OPENING A BIT BY USING THREE 1 INCH VERTICAL BOARDS[ eg. 1x2 on side fronts and a 1x4 on the centre].

You may find it cheaper to buy new units. If this is particIe board, you will have to follow Jim's advice. I like the baskets you have.

Use hinges and a knob or handle........

how about curtains....use a swing arm curtain rod ,and add a dowel or yard sticks on 3 sides for stiffness , sew pocket hems, insert supports and sew closed. you can change decor easily and cheaply

you could also use old windows if size is correct, just attach w/ hinges

also check Ikea , they sell doors for some units, that might work or need to be cut to fit

If the units are particle board... use 1X2 lumber to make a face frame and glue and finish nail to the front edges of the cabinets.. do this across the front edged of the shelves too... glue and nail into the face frame too.

Now you have a more solid surface to attach the hinges for the doors... you can cut them from 1/2 inch plywood or build them from bead board with a "shaker" style edge.... Pinterest.com should have instructions and ideas.

FYI... one VERY handy tool for making projects is a KREG pocket hole jig... it allows you to join 2 pieces of wood together and hide the screws... You can purchase the KREG pocket hole jig at Lowe' (and probably Home Depot) or directly from KREG at Kreg.com. I bought one for my husband... after seeing all of the DIY and HGTV carpenters use it to make bookcases, tables, cabinets, face frames for bookcases or doors for cabinets.... worth every penny (get a selection of the special screws to go with it) and worth looking into.
