I made this kitchen island/bar from all re purposed items and gave it a punch of color with these fun adjustable bold yellow stools!
I was given this nice oak top from my friends at An Owl's Bazaar a couple months ago. Fortunately for me, it didn't need a thing. It is 46" w x 17" d.
I used a piece of old paneling for the front. Measured and cut it to fit. I took a couple pallets apart and used most all of the wood. The blocks of wood that were in between the pallets became the feet.
Next I started making a box frame and attached the paneling to a strip of wood I placed behind each side and nailed it into place.
I did a dry fit of the top to make sure I got the measurements right. I did! :)
Then I added different widths of wood along each side. I made a shelf along the inside bottom and did the same.
I gave all the wood a white wash and stenciled "Atlantic Freight" on the front. I also made the hinges on the front out of wood and used pewter Rub n Buff to make them look like metal!
After all the paint had dried, I sprayed a clear coat on it to protect the finish. I attached the top with L brackets. I had these great adjustable stools I got from Wayfair.com and thought it gave a nice punch of color to the piece.
I was going to make another shelf, but when the stools are in their lowest position, they stow quite nicely under neath!
I don't have pictures of it, but I added wheels so you could easily move it where ever you need it! One tip on wheels: Get big wheels with brakes. You can find them at any hardware store. Small wheels make the piece unstable. Thanks for lookin' :)
