I find a paste of baking soda and vinegar sitting on it for about 30 minutes and then a hot damp towel laid over the top works great for my stove! -

Wait until it cools off. Wipe as much as you can with a sponge. Using a mister or the sponge, dampen the surface. Sprinkle on baking soda. Let dry, and scrub off. The baking soda can leave a film, so don't pile it on. If that doesn't work, my back up is Bartenders Friend. -

I use oven cleaner, keeping only on the glass as it corrodes painted metal. Some people use baking soda paste made with vinegar. -
