Just leave the door and the top, detergent inserter (If you are equipped) and the machine will dry without smell. The open door/vent creates a draft.Helpful Reply -

btw--I always add white vinegar to rinse towels. They absorb MUCH more water afterward.Helpful Reply- See 3 previous

The fats in your laundry soap gets rancid and that causes the awful smell so use a vegetable based soap. Most store bought are petroleum based this to can get rancid I use an easy home made soap using sal suds, washing soda and hot water I have not had any problems with odor and I also use vinegar for a rinse. The web site for the laundry soap is www.brendid.com she has lots of homemade cleaners that work.Helpful Reply -

The manual usually indicates the front door should remain open at all times the washer is not in use. It helps to also open the little drawer where detergent goes. Once I realized this i never again had to deal with odor. Training my husband and kids to leave it open is another issue all together (even with notes on the door.)Helpful Reply -

Someone suggested this "gadget" called "Washer Fan" @ Washerfan.com a few years ago. It is AMAZING. It works like magic, and costs less than 3 cents a month to operate. It has a magnet that makes the unit stick to the back of the washer. Apparently it keeps the lines dry. We've had no smelley issues since we installed it. And I'm not one that falls for these things... but this works!Helpful Reply -

In my experience, my LG front loader had a small opening at the bottom front. I placed a shallow container underneath the opening, opened the little door and some stinky liquid ran out. Throw out the gunk, close the little door, and, wa la, problem solved. You can still dry out the door gasket which is pretty gunky too, but the trap door was the main problem. Give it a try. What do you have to loose?Helpful Reply -
