How can I clean my copper sink?

My copper sink is supposed to be washed with a mild soap like Palmolive dish detergent, so that the patina is not brightened, which we do. But the issue I’m having is that it looks like there is soap scum around the top design and no matter how much I rinse it & wipe it, it doesn’t come off. The problem is that if I use anything acidic to get off the white, it will take off the patina. Any suggestions?

The appearance you're describing is part of the patina's characteristic. If you want to remove the whiteness, you'll alter that process. Only way to remove the whitish patina is to clean with a copper cleaner to return the shiny finish and start over.
