I'm not too sure it can be done. If it's the headrest, I suspect it's hair oil; natural or a hair dressing. Leather is somewhat porous and it really loves oil. Anybody remember putting 'Neatsfoot oil' on baseball gloves? It always darkened them but made the soft and subtle. -

Is it stain or could it be that the top layer of leather has worn off? I say this because it has happened to my husband's chair. -

You can try leather cleaner from automotive car parts store.
