I have sprayed with white vinager and wipe up with clear water. When the sofa has dried dust with baking soda let it stand a couple hours and then vacuum. Repete if needed.
I would use an enzyme solution made to neutralize urine. Go to Soldans of Pet Smart to buy a good one.
Have you tried Simple Green? It is non toxic and disinfects and deodorizes any odors. I find it to be the best for deodorizing. You can get it at Walmart in the auto/boat/camping area in concentrate or other home improvement stores in the cleaning supplies as spray bottles or concentrate bottles. We use concentrate for such jobs. It can sometimes stain fabric, so you would want to test a little bit somewhere that would not show before applying it to the soiled couch area.
Hi Linda, you'll need to clean the couch really, really well with a cleaner that breaks down the urea. That's what makes cat pee smell so strong. OudorMute works really well. Depending on what type of covering you have on your couch you may have to replace the foam inside too.
