I would put dishwashing liquid or baby shampoo directly on the dry shirt and let it sit for a few minutes. Then flush the spot with very hot water. Repeat if necessary. This always works for me.

Before you even soak the shirt, sprinkle the stain with baking soda and let it dry. Shake the baking soda into the washing machine. Then soak the stain on both side with Spray ‘n Wash or another pre-wash stain remover. Add your usual detergent but not fabric softener. You can add 1/4 cup more baking soda, Oxy-Clean, or borax. Wash on a gentle, small load with cold water, if you can. You can also wash the shirt in a sink, but you need to do a lot of soft scrubbing and thorough rinsing. Best wishes 😇

I always use Tide or Dawn to pretreat greasy spots and it usually works really well.

    B. Enne and Nancy Turner have the right idea! Dawn dish liquid will work. They use it to take oils spills off birds. You can also use automotive hand cleaner to pretreat.
