It depends on what kind of stains you have. In general, I use a mix of equal parts of vinegar & water with a few drops of Dawn. I put it in a spray bottle, spray it on, let it sit then scrub the spots. Usually that's all it takes. If a stain remains, I've let that completely dry, the sprayed with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water. Do not mix hydrogen peroxide with vinegar. Also be aware that hydrogen peroxide is like a bleach so color test it before using on your carpet. Last step for me is to shampoo the entire carpet so that it is fresh and clean. Hello! I like the Oxi products and or using a professional carpet steamer. Some stains cannot be removed. Once I put a decorativve wool carpet over an off white wall to walland the dye transfer could not be removed .....even by professionals

Use 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1 tbsp. of Dawn dish soap, and fill with water. Spray area liberally and let soak for 5-10 minutes and then proceed with blotting with a clean, dry towel until stain is removed. Some carpet stain removal products can be of great benefit for combating many types of carpet stains.
