I have cleaned my kitchen cabinets with Murphy's Oil Soap. They are clean but lack shine. Is there anything that can bring back the shine?

Use Cabinet Magic available at Home Depot in the cleaning aisle

I have never been a fan of Murphys. It leaves a residue and I believe it calls bugs because of ingredients. Start by washing the cabinets with white vinegar and water. After they dry use a good quality furniture restorer or polish. Their are many kinds so shop around to find what is a good balance with your skill set (some require more prep than others like sanding the surface). You did not say what finish uour cabinets were. So take that into consideration too. Wood or laminate or plastic?

If they are wood, after thoroughly washing with vinegar and water, you can put a fresh coat of poly acrylic on them in a high gloss or semi gloss and that would help protect them and restore the shine.

You may have oil residue on the cupboards still. Try washing them off with a mix of warm water, baking soda and Dawn.

I use a cleaner from an antique store. Called old English. It makes it shine so much. A small bottle cost abt 15 bucks but should last over a year. Hopefully this will help. I'm a cleaning lady!!

Try liquid Jubilee. It's and old product but it's a cleaner and shiner all in one. You do have to order it on line though.

I have 30 year old oak kitchen cabinets, first used Murphy's Oil Soap to wash them, then a coat of Rejuvenate for Hardwood Floors that i purchaed from Home Depot. I could not be happier. They are bright & shiny & would recommend these products.

To clean wood cabinets with Murphy's oil soap, you can follow these steps:

    1. Dilute the Murphy's oil soap with water according to the instructions on the bottle.
    2. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the solution and wring out the excess liquid.
    3. Gently wipe the wood cabinets with the damp cloth, making sure not to oversaturate the wood.
    4. Wipe the cabinets again with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue.
    5. Dry the cabinets thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth.
