How do I remove residual dried CitriStrip?
After using CitriStrip, What is the best way to get rid a any dried on residue in small crevices? The piece I stripped has a lot of detailed areas where I didn't realize it was stuck until it dried. I have tried brushing it, but the crevices are deep. And other than scraping with a pick I can't get it out. Then it still leaves something behind that won't stain over.

Not sure what kind of brush you used, Wilma, but I would try a small wire brush. If that doesn't work, try reapplying a small amount of Citristrip to the detailed areas and use an old toothbrush to get it out. I'm thinking the reapplied Citristrip will soften the dried and make it come out easier.
You need some specialty sanding materials. Sanding tools that can get into really tiny crevices can be purchased at a woodworking store like woodcraft and rockler. Woodcraft is where I got mine. You can buy sanding blocks with wedges and points to get into those hard to reach areas. There are even sanding cords you can buy to go around crevices of spindles etc. These are a few that I have that work great!!!!:

Hope this helps!!
Denatured Alcohol and an old tooth brush. It won’t raise the grain of the wood.
I have re-applied the CitriStrip to areas where its been left behind, covered with plastic till softened, and use those narrow wire brushed that look like a toothbrush with a wooden handle..... I prefer the brass ones. I get the brushes at hardware store like True Value. I also use 000 - 0000 steel wool to get off residue.
I always wash my furniture with mineral spirits after I strip it. Just wipe it down. It works well.
Susan is right! Use a tooth brush
I am SO ticked off from using this stripper. I used it on an inside door and followed directions. It took off a great deal of paint on the lower half of the door. I had to reapply to upper half and it didn't get it all. I went to the store, asked the Rep where the mineral spirits were and he told me they are illegal in the state of California--use acetone. What a MESS! Everything is now sticky and I've pretty much had it after 2 days. Any suggestions for a fix?
Thanks Laura. I stripped a total of 14 layers of paint off that door and got down to blue paneling on either side. Really? I also got very sick from the Mineral Spirits--guess ventilation was not as good as I thought. Winding up having Home Depot install new door ($39) but their fee is OUTRAGEOUS! Oh well, bite the bullet and get 'er done! After going thru 4 jugs of CitriStrip I can honestly say it works well...I think this was just an "unusual" circumstance.
Thinking back to high school, it was drilled into our heads that "like dissolves like". I would re-apply more Citristrip, cover with plastic rap to keep it moistened. Then use the tiniest metal brush to get into the small areas. Also old toothbrushes work well.
