I just go over my canvases with my swiffer duster wand. -

Start with getting the dust of with a soft rug. A light vacuuming with a brush attachment works too. If they are dirty then a clean soapy wash cloth that is rung out can remove a lot of dirt/cig smoke etc. Carefully dab and clean and repeat until it is clean and then use clean water and a towel to blot extra moisture. -

Try baby wipes or wet wipes or cotton wool buds dipped in soapy water, unless the painting is valuable, then get it done professionally.......
