I found this post awhile back when I was wondering the same thing when we had our own wood stove with a glass door: www.onedayglass.com/woodstove-glass/how-to-clean-wood-stove-glass/
I found newspaper and a 50/50 vinegar water solution when it was still just a little warm worked best for us.
Oven cleaner.
I use vinegar and a soft cloth.
