Hello. Is it the standard blue chalk line? Is the deck presently unsealed? I would start with a gentle cleaner like Dawn dish detergent and a toothbrush go from there. If all else fails in extreme circumstances maybe a sanding will be needed.

Aug 22, 2017 - Try an old fashioned red eraser & rub it just like you would a pencil line. If that doesn't work, try scrubbing w a diluted detergent & water mixture (as for dishwashing) & a toothbrush in a not to obvious place (near one of the beams) to get an idea give of how much the chalk has penetrated.

You could try a Magic eraser or scrub using a hose and a stiff broom.

Try Awesome cleaner from the Dollar Store. It removes things no other cleaner will touch. Particularly good for things that have a texture to them as well. And the best part is it only costs $1.00. You will find a million uses for it.

    Hello Sue,

You could use a rubber or let it ware off or maybe wash it off with soapy water.

Apply a soapy mix of dishwashing liquid and then either pressure wash or use high pressure attachment for a hose. You might want to scrub first, you can use a broom to keep from bending.

Use (Savogran) TSP Trisodium Phosphate to easily clean red chalk off deck boards. I purchased mine from Lowes for around $4.50.
