How often should I have my gutters cleaned?

I was wondering how often I should have my gutters cleaned? I currently do it every six months or so. I plan on getting it done pretty soon now since leaves have been accumulating in the gutters but there are still leaves on the trees now.

I think it just depends on where you live, how many trees/leaves, etc. I do mine about 2-3 times during the fall and once in spring after winter, but I live in the middle of a lot of leaf and pine trees.

Clean as needed. I have cleaned out spring and fall, and do myself in between when we have had high winds.

  I have arthritis and thus can't do ladder work; my guy charges $100 per cleaning so I want to limit the number of cleanings as much as possible.

  Oh that sounds steep, but it depends on whether or not it is a 2 story house and how many gutters you have. My house is small by most standards. Twice a year should be enough, as you would be surprised as to how many people don't clean their gutters then wonder why they have problems. As long as the service does a good job, that's what matters. Couldn't hurt to shop around a bit if you have the option.
