How do you remove the smell of cigarettes from wood?

I let a friend stay in a room at my house and he was a heavy smoker and now the bed room reeks of cigarette smoke something awful

Wash everything you can that will fit in the washing machine. Spray other things with febreeze. Set out dishes of vinegar and baking soda to help absorb the other odors.
Wash everything from ceilings to floor with TSP. I have done this myself. It's a job, but you will be glad you did.
I never let anyone smoke inside. You have a lot of work ahead of you now. Do as Adrienne said. It could take awhile. May even have to wash wash walls and repaint.
