One or the other, not both:
1/2 cup lemon juice to your wash cycle with your detergent. However, it can leave bleach marks on colored items.
1 cup distilled white vinegar with your detergent.
Also:
1/2 cup baking soda or 1/2 cup Borax with your detergent.
Hi Doris, here's the recipe! https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/how-to-whiten-laundry-without-chlorine-bleach-109590 I'm definitely gonna have to try it myself
I use white vinegar and put it in the fabric softener dispenser.
I add either Borax or OxyClean to the bottom of my front load, my regular detergent into the fill cup and fill the washer with hot water. Set on presoak for 1+ hours and "extra rinse". Whites come out WHITE!!
I almost always add a splash of vinegar to the wet clothes before turning on the dryer. It kills germs and leaves the clothes smelling fresh.
