I don't think this is possible...and would probably be a safety issue. We had a solid glass door on the back of our house and replaced it with a half-glass door...only has glass on the upper half. That way, we could cut a hole for a doggie door on the bottom half. We kept the glass door in case we ever want to change it back.
I would cut the glass, glue it to a piece of wood, and put hinges on it.
I'd make a call to the local glass company and ask them. That would be the safest way to proceed, especially with such a large piece of glass.
I would have a Glazier do it, because old glass can be a problem......
no, it's tempered glass and won't cut
If the dog hits it in a certain way the glass may shatter. I have one in a regular steel door and I have seen our dogs take the door at a run and nearly miss the door, or hit the edge real hard going in or out. Don't take a chance with the life of your dog, or the glass door.
apparently, there are kits and it can be done.
There are kits but not a DIY project for most homeowners. Visit your local glass and mirror shop for quotes. If you have a sliding glass door or any wall space that would be suitable, check out items in this link.
