2 soild boards, then hardware store tell him your project and you need attachments for boards to truck for ramp. ,sometimes they will attach them 4 u.
They also sell them, I bought mine from marshalls a couple of years ago when my mastiff had hip surgery for 40 dollars, Please be careful when building your own, because I know they will be afraid of them at first, and God forbid they fall and hurt themselves and get injured even more...good luck.

My daughter bought inexpensive dog steps meant for getting up on furniture that are lightweight, which is why I mention buying them instead of making them. Easy to pick up and stow in the back. A molded step stool would be sturdy and lightweight, too.
Have you thought about trying to place a piece of plywood on the car and have the dog walk up the plywood?
