Front door gets hot in the afternoon..

The front of our home is facing afternoon sun and everything including the door handle get very hot in summer. I thought about installing awning, but the door Height (8 ft) would limit the shed only on top part of the door. I have included the picture of the front of the house. The porch depth is 6 ft. Thought about having sun shed curtain but may not look good and HOA may have problem with it. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why not fix a Canopy just above the door on the brickwork Or maybe grow a Tree to shade it Or Folding Shutters or Screen...... -

I go for a canopy just above the door coming out flush with the outside walls. Something like a landing. -

I would ask the HOA what they would suggest and to work with you on this issue.. They can be very particular, and may have different plans already. -

Start with the HOA. No point in doing anything until you know what the limitations are. You would just have to take it down if it is non-conforming.
