An Easy Upcycled DIY Advent Calendar

The holiday season is gearing up again which means it’s time to break out your hoard of toilet rolls and whip up another adorably awesome advent calendar, yay!

Raid your recycling bin, xmas decorations + grab your glue gun and create An Easy Upcycled DIY Advent Calendar with my step by step tutorial:

To make a table top advent calendar house you’ll need: 24 toilet rolls, a cereal box, cotton, number stickers, old holiday cards and decor bits + your trusty glue gun.

Deconstruct the box, put it back together inside out and then cut out the front panel.

Cut out a wide triangle shape from the leftover cardboard and paint it a roof-like colour.

While the roof paint dries chop out 24 circles from the holiday cards – these will be the doors of your advent calendar and should be slightly larger than the open ends of the toilet rolls.

Number the circles from 1 – 24 (we used silver stickers but a marker works just as well).

Tape a numbered circle over one end of each toilet roll to create the doors. Make sure that each door can easily be flipped up and opened.

Hooray! The calendar doors are finally complete!

Grab your glue gun and secure the toilet rolls to the inside of the cereal box.

Fill in the spaces between the toilet rolls with some holiday garland.

Snag the painted triangle, draw on some bricks and create the roof with the rest of the leftover cereal box – add some bits to the back for extra sturdiness if needed.

Rip the cotton into pieces and stick it to the top of the roof and sides of the house to completely cover the plain cardboard.

Decorate the top of the roof with a few adorable holiday decorations.

Add some colour to the sides too!

Gather your calendar treats.

Add them to calendar.

(I reused some tissue paper and wrapped each of mine to stop my curious kiddo from peeking)

Display your awesome advent calendar and (try to) patiently wait for the holidays!
