It depends on the style of your ornaments. My first suggestion would be a large bow made of ribbon. Do you have a picture of the ornaments?
Hello.. That’s quite an accomplishment. Can you post a photograph of your ornaments or your tree with ornaments so we can see your style and color aesthetic. That would give us better ideas to offer a suggestion.
Here's a link to Pinterest, see if this helps you with a wide variety of designs:

BRAVO! It would depend on the theme of the ornaments. Personally I am partial to angels but I'm thinking a simple star would be appropriate.
What about a large ribbon bow?
Do you have a picture of the tree? And what are the ornaments? Do you have a theme? That would help when picking out a topper.

Hi Connie, I'd love to see a photo of all your ornaments if you have one to share.
Well, folks, I can't take photos as I'm in the process of moving and I have them all packed. There really isn't any certain theme to any of them. That's why I'm stumped as to what kind of topper I want. All of your ideas are great and thank you for your input! One thought that did come to me was a large star out of twine. Still thinking though.
I’m a traditionalist: star, sometimes an angel. Tell us more about what you used to make the ornaments. Did you crochet them?
The ornaments I made are: bells out of small clay pots, little hats out of yarn, Gnomes, Scandanavian Stars out of fabric, Hexagons out of fabric, Felt Stars, Fe lt Reindeer, Felt Snowmen, Felt Penguin, Felt Xmas Trees, Yo-Yo's Xmas Trees, Snow Sleds out of Popsicle Sticks, Snow Ski's from Popsicle Sticks, Hearts out of fabric, Lollipops, Mason Jar Lids wrapped in twine, Felt Candy Canes. I know I'm missing some. I made 12 of each pattern, and 20 different patterns for a total of 240 Ornaments. Most of them are packed now as I'm going to be moving. This project kept me busy all Winter. The garland is going to be wood thread spools painted red and green, then between each spool, I will put red or green buttons. I haven't decided if I'm going to wrap ribbon around the spools or not. I'm liking the idea of a large Star Tree Topper. I would cut the pattern out of a sturdy heavy piece of cardboard, and then wrap the whole thing with twine, then put greenery, etc on it for the embellishments. I've never done a 7' tree in all home made ornaments so this shall be fun to put together.
IMO every tree topper, whether it be home created or store bought, should have lights.

I personally love a big bow on top of a tree and then I use matching ribbon around the tree.
A big star or bow would be nice
