My favorite things to use as a Christmas tree skirt are blankets or cloth tablecloths. Just arrange them nicely! they can be re-purposed year round so it's not another thing to store with the holiday decor.

Because we generally have a pretty big tree, the correct sized ones were super expensive. So I bought a round table cloth, cut a hole in the middle and a slit up one side. Then I hemmed the edges and sewed ribbon on the hemmed edge to be able to tie it together.
These tree stands/collars are an attractive alternative to a flat fabric skirt. They are made from lampshades and wicker baskets.The last picture shows an easy diy stand made from a red storage bin.
Pretty blankets or tablecloths around a tree can look amazing. Or sheepskin rugs also look cool.
