Skip the trends and go classic and timeless. That being said, here are some current ideas!

Hi Debbie,
I'm with you, I can't stand the "in styles" when they flood us with pictures and things we should do, so much that it's almost to the point of brain washing. If I were you and had the chance to decorate a brand new farm house, I'd take my time and besides beds and couches, decorate it slowly and with pieces I Loved! Pick pieces that make you happy when you look at them, and serve a purpose. Today people seem to buy the "in" things yet they don't fit with their life style. I believe every home should be decorated to make life easier and happier. When all is done, it will truly be your happy place.
Decorate anyway you like. You are the one living there. Use things that make you smile. Decorate for yourself and don't be afraid to mix styles!
Mid centry modern??? As said above, buy what you like & what is useful.
You are going to live with this home, long after the trends have changed. Look at some pictures in books/ magazines. Go to some open houses in your community. Then build from whatever makes you feel good. You can always change up curtains, pillows, towels and such - but many things you are going to have to live with for a long time. Unless you are building to "flip" - pick what YOU LOVE. Colors and style....
Yes! The best "trend" is YOU. Pick items YOU love (and I mean love --- just not space-fillers!) and start to layer your nest. Get neutral, simple furniture and then you'll always have a background for your changing creativity!
I'm not a trender.. I tend to stick to classic so It doesn't look dated. but I love wood... so my taste run darker than most like
Yes coastal will always be "in"
