I think that would look pretty, but if you have bulbs that get hot, the heat may affect the decoupage. There are many types of decoupage, so try to use one that will hold up to heat. Mod Podge makes one that is dishwasher safe. That may be the one to try.
Hi Angela, it sounds like such a lovely idea. I would use a paper napkins so the light will still show through the covers. I stumbled on an amazing decoupage artist the other day and maybe one of her video will inspire you - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXi69pn6oQU
That sounds like a great project but I would take one of your globes to the hardware store or home improvement store and ask them to show you LED or other bulbs that do not generate heat so you don't start a fire from the decoupage or paper materials.
Hi, Angela!
The glass covers could also be etched using an etching compound or an air eraser... This would give them a frosted, opaque look, and would be beautiful! I hope this helps!
You can create the same concept as this post does - https://homeguides.sfgate.com/decoupage-lampshade-28605.html Another idea would be to use something like Gallery Glass to create the effect your interested in but keep all the light coming through
Hello Angela,
Go ahead with Paper or Fabric and Mod podge as glue (It dries clear) or you could try Glass paint or make a stained glass look by using Black Marker to outline a design, or paint them or Spray them Metallic.
great ideas
and suggestions... thanks to all
Get your self pretty napkins and cover with glue and then lay the tissue on the light we’re you want them
Do you know how hot they will get? Just wondering how well the glue and paper will hold up under that kind of heat?
Hi Angela, you can decoupage or even tint the clear glass, and paint the brass a silver or white or other color of your choice, hope these help you out,

Hi Angela: Here's a site that may help: Decoupage glass TIPS | How to decoupage with and without paint (youtube.com)
Have you thought about faux stained glass? You can check this site out and use the ideas for your project: Bing Videos Click on the blue words and the site will come up.
You can make your own colours by using about a tablespoon of clear glue to one or two drops of acrylic paint. You will be surprised at how easy it is to add pigment to clear glue. Use a blunt paintbrush and add your colors where you want them.
Hi Angela, hope this helps you. You can paint the brass over with chalk paint or a metal paint to a silver or gold or any other color!

And you can decoupage or paint the glass cover!

Or decoupage

I love the idea of Modpodging a paper napkin to the glass, that would be gorgeous, use the clear drying Mod Podge and a low temperature bulb.
Decide on the look you'd like to have and then paint the brass whatever color you like...perhaps matte black or silver. The choices would be endless. You could simply mix food coloring with the ModPodge to make the clear glass a translucent color or as others have suggested use napkin designs. The beauty of the ModPodge is that if you want to change the look later you could soak the finish off by using cloths soaked in hot water if you place the paint on the outside of the glass rather than the inner portion where the electrical fittings are. Have fun!
I would use etching cream. You can get it at a craft store. Or buy glass paint.
Dee's ideas are good but do note you'll need low wattage bulbs or LED's that don't put out any heat if you go the decoupage route. The product you use for decoupage might not be heat resistant. Too, there are all sorts of cool bulbs out there for sale now; you might find some neat ones with sparkles or other cool looks.
Use Paper Napkins and Mod Podge!
