My favorite way to preserve them is to place them on clear contact paper and then cover them with the same. I cut them out leaving a quarter to an eighth inch away from the leaf to give it room but still enhance the look of the shape.

dip them in melted wax
I melt wax and add a red/orange crayon. Let all melt together and dip leaves, place on wax paper to dry. They last for years.
Iron them between 2 pieces of wax paper
