How does one make license plates look old?

Had to replace license plates and I’m wondering how to make them look old? Want to use as roof for bird houses.

Try sanding some paint off and then spraying with vinegar or something acidic to see if it speeds up the aging process.

Sand the edges, hammer around edges to hopefully chip off some of the paint, fold how you want to shape it sand that fold and allow to rust over time.
You can also use muratic acid around the edges to do the rusty look!
