What is a good top coat for a diy tile coaster that is heat resistant?

I want to make a diy tile coaster using my cricut. I want a top coat that is waterproof and I can put a hot coffee cup on it too. Any suggestions?

No top coat is 100% waterproof or heat resistant.

Oil based varnish will work great or epoxy reain.
