i have hung hides on the wall by adhering the hide to a long piece of wood, hidden behind. I actually stapled it to the wood. Put several heavy duty hangers on the wood and hang. Make sure you mount on the studs.
My headboard is a quilt!!! I love it! There are the coolest clamps to hang your quilt available at Amazon.
You can put up a curtain rod to put the quilt on.
On the wall ABOVE the headboard....I'd sew a small fabric sleeve to the back, then slide a curtain rod or a board in the sleeve (depends upon the weight of the quilt), then mount the rod or board to the wall. the sleeve won't damage the quilt and can be removed. If you are hanging it over the headboard, I've stapled the fabric to the ceiling! Don't be surprised if the quilt fabric fades....
You can buy quilt hangers from Craft stores.
I would look for a quilt bar
