Do it with decor, that way you don't need to worry about losing your deposit.
Many years ago I lived in a 1940's bungalow that was essentially a little box. I turned it into a charming farmhouse inspired space all with decor - way before the trend was popular. I made all my own curtains, used second hand, garage sale and antique store finds that I picked up here and there for little cash outlay over time.
You could add some removable wallpaper or starch fabric to the walls. I have a tutorial for how to use fabric that will come off when you move here: https://www.unexpectedelegance.com/starched-fabric-wall-treatment-tutorial-video-series/
Sounds like all you can do is add accessories and a rug.
I used a outhouse theme for our bathroom. Shower curtain, rug and other accessories. You can find them on Amazon, and Lakeside Collections, or any other country catalog.
