Blending Chalk Couture Colors to Give a Project Texture

I blended three chalk paste colors to give this crab some texture. Blending chalk paste is simple to do to achieve a unique look. This is simple to do once you learn how to do it properly.

Make sure your chalk pastes are stirred up and have the right consistency. If they need a little water, just add a tiny bit of distilled or bottled water (try not to use water from your tap because of possible mineral and sediments in the water). Leave the stir sticks in the pastes, as you will need them to blend the colors.

You can use any combination of colors to create a blended look! Simply dab a little of each color onto your transfer. Using a squeegee, in a zig-zag motion, swirl the colors together. Make sure you cover the entire silk screen surface with the paste. Scrape off the excess and discard. You don't want to contaminate any of the colors, so don't scrape the excess back into one of your paste jars.

Here's the same transfer and paste combination on a chalkboard.

I used the same technique in different shades of green on this eucalyptus wreath!
