Art is everywhere you look and sometimes fabrics and scarves can easily be turned into statement art pieces for your home. Whether you have a piece of fabric or an actual scarf laying around at home, you now have access to creating a unique piece of art for your walls or bookshelves.

Anytime I visit a thrift store they always have thousands of silky scarves for sale which is why I think this craft/project is accessible to anyone who has a vision.

Not only do thrift stores have a variety of scarves to pick through, they also have scraps of fabric they sell. You can absolutely be creative about this project, the sky is the limit.

What's one other thing that you ALWAYS see an abundance of when you hit up the thrift? PICTURE FRAMES!

I knew I had to test out my theory and see if this project would look as good as I had envisioned.

  • First things first pick your favorite scarf or find one that really speaks to you. This is the scarf you are going to frame and admire.
  • Next, you will walk to find a picture frame that fits the scarf perfectly inside of the frame
  • Remove the backing of the picture frame and lay the scarf so it is centered just right. The frame I purchased at Target had a mat so I made sure to center the scarf just right in the center of the mat.
  • After you have centered the scarf, take some masking tape to secure the scarf onto the mat. Press the masking tape firmly onto the scarf and matt to make sure it truly is secure.
  • Place the back of the frame back on and now you are able to hang your creation on the wall.
  • That looks so good!

The final look of the framed silk scarf project hanging on the wall

I found this awesome gold beaded frame from Target. This was the 8"x8" sizing option since the scarf I was framing was extremely tiny.

Prepare your scarf by laying it out and centering it to your liking. I used masking tape to adhere the scarf to the picture mat, I don't want to ruin the scarf but I also want to make sure there is some sort of security through the adhesion.

Firmly adhere the masking tape onto the scarf and press it into the mat. This should secure the scarf safely.

I know this scarf is certainly on the expensive side. This was a "Treat Myself" gift a few years ago and knew I would have this piece forever since it is such a classic look. For those interested this the Hermes scarf. It is their nano scarf! Super tiny but a cool piece of work.

Another angle of the framed scarf.

Just a little video capture of the decor display in my guest bedroom.
