Feeling proud: Mosaic Artwork- all from repurposed material?

I live in a rural area in NSW Australia and am a bricklayer by trade during the day. After work I like to try my hand at a number of crafts, the main one been graphite drawings, but I have also completed quite a few mosaic art pieces.I usually get the tile off cuts from my work sites and then cut them down from there. The timber I use to frame them is also just left over rubbish from work.

Thanks William for the kind comment. Not quite sure if it's true, but I'll take it anyway.ha,ha.I like doing the mosaics but the process is fairly tedious and I usually just do two or three in a batch and then go back to my drawing and woodwork.I started (I think as most people do)just doing pretty abstract pieces but then thought I'd have a go at a recognizable face and hopefully it turned out ok.Thanks again for your interest.Regards Terry.

  • Wow, these are amazing, well done

Thank you Anita.I have another one set out in a frame ready to go but am having trouble getting onto it as I've been away working in Coffs Harbour which is a long way from us (Wagga Wagga)so I haven't been doing anything at all on the craft side of things, but will get it done eventually.Regards Terry.

Thank you Naomie for the kind comment.I can only vaguely remember when I did each one but I don't suppose it matters much. The only people who ever see them are usually friends who come around for a meal and a chat in front of the open fire, and they usually just laugh and say "what's he doing this time"to my wife as they know she gets a bit exasperated at times as I produce my drawings, woodwork and mosaics etc,by the truckload, and even though there is hardly any room left I just keep on going and as I said I think it drives her mad but she sort of knows by now (40 years) that I march to the beat of a different drum.ha,ha.I'll post a couple of my graphite drawings just for interest.
    .All the best.Terry.
