Can we Replace our floor tile to wood, without lifting the tile?

We have tile and carpet flooring. Changing to wood floors, trying to make it easy.

  • You can, but be advised that it is going to create an awkward transition and a tripping hazard. My installers would refuse the job for liability reasons. Easy is not aways the best.

    Yes, wood would lay differently over the different surfaces. You'd have trouble finding a GOOD worker who would agree this job the way you want.Seems like throwing good money after bad,and not a savings in the end. You could probably save some $ by breaking up/removing the tiles yourself. IT could be very cathartic!! Good Luck, take pictures of the before and after!

    And what happens if a tile comes loose under your wood floor? Please, do it correctly and take up the tile.
