Any suggestions on laminate floor cleaners to make laminate floors shine without being slippery?
Use acrylic polyurethane made for floors. Apply it with a sponge roller on an extension pole. Let dry, apply second coat. It will seal the laminate and keep water from running down between the strips.
The best thing to do is contact the manufacturer of the laminate and ask them.... there are new laminates that are waterproof... and since bathrooms are small in floor area... you might consider just replacing them with the new waterproof version
you cannot saturate the floor, you cannot seal Laminate floor.Your solution is not to get the floor wet
Don't put anything on it or it can void the warranty. The laminate is already sealed at the factory with a coating stronger that anything you can put on. Just make sure any spills are wiped up immediately. Once any moisture gets at the substrate it can swell and warp the flooring. Affected boards would need to be replaced. One reason out of many I dislike laminate flooring.
Shirley, We thought about having laminate installed, but the flooring company finally admitted that it would be difficult to keep with water and pets, etc. They told me that pet urine and water can not only damage the laminate, but can run down between the strips of laminate and it would have to be replaced. Be sure that your polyurethane is made to use on floors. Satin finish is a good choice. A sponge roller is important because it will give a nice, smooth finish. You'll want to use a paint brush to "cut in" around the baseboards, tub, shower, vanity, etc. If in doubt, use painter's tape on your baseboards, tub, etc. so you won't get the polyurethane on them. In a couple of years, if you notice that the polyurethane is wearing off where there is heavy traffic, you can re-coat. With poly, you'll never have to wax your floors! Good luck!!
