While different terms such as refurbish, renew, refinish, and redo are used interchangeably, they are not the same when it comes to the work involved.
If the hardwood floors are in such a poor condition that they are in need of being completely refinished, this is a great deal of work. The task requires physical strength and agility, and knowledge on technique and how to use the products and tools.
I would suggest that you give your floors a through cleaning first. Then see if the outcome meets with your expectations, and whether or not you want to call the pros.
