How do I sand my original wood floors?

Puppies and wooden floors, stains and build up. How do I sand them safely and then refinish?

Rent a sander from any home improvement store or tool rental facility. It isn't easy, I would opt to hire out this portion of the project out. Unless you are very handy, this shouldn't be a first time DIY job. Best left to a professional. Eventhen getting rid of water/pet spots is almost impossible. An option is to strip and refinish it like a piece of furniture. It is a DIY job as long as you have very good ventilation and safety equipment /proper clothing. It won't look new- but clean with a lot of character. Good luck. -

That is a big job and not one that a novice takes on for first time DIY. It is very easy to gouge out or go too deep when sanding with professional rotary/stand sander. It's dirty, back-breaking work. That being said, you can do it yourself. Follow instructions listed above in other posts. You might want to consider getting estimates from professional floor re-finishers.
