How do you remove old carpet and replace with laminate?
We have very old nasty carpet that is unraveling and need to replace it with laminate, We are having trouble finding just the right grade and help to install it. One person quoted me a very pricey amount and that was only if I removed the old carpet myself. I am getting too old for such projects but still need to save money, 2500.00 is a lot right now but the floors are getting worse by the day.

Advice on how to rip up carpet in a mobile home and replace with linoleum or wood?
The carpet ..cut it in to two foot sections. Roll it up as you go.it may take a box cutter to cut it with. Clean the floor well and remove all tacks/ fasteners. Some
carpet is on tack strips at the perimeter of the room.
Have you checked with a local home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowes? They often run specials on flooring installation.
Removing the carpet can be a job that isn't too difficult, you just need to cut it into strips that can be easily rolled up and discarded. Laying the laminate might be an issue if it bothers you to be on your knees a lot. We installed laminate in a 400 sq ft area ourselves, it was a little labor intensive, but definitely not a $2500 job. Can you check and see if your area has a Catholic Charities division?
