To stop it from continuing, you need a UV film protective coating on your windows or close your drapery during day. Usually cause by Sun or light . Unfortunately the fix is to refinish and stain.
I believe you would have to sand, restain, and seal. The only problem you might run into, if you only do those sections that have faded, it may not match the rest of the floor. Therefore you might have to do the whole area.
