What is under the carpet?
Hi Arlene, it really depends on what is under the carpet and whether or not you want something to cover it permanently etc. There are always area rugs and inexpensive carpet remnants you could buy to cover it up temporarily.
If removing the carpet and felt have exposed the subfloor, you can cover it with almost anything else. Just make sure that the subfloor is free of any bumps, nail holes, and gapping seams that is between the plywood. Use LevelBest to cover up any irregularities.
I pulled up my carpet in two bedrooms and stenciled them. It is not expensive and is as subtle or bold as you want it. I had never stenciled before so it isn’t hard. I just love it!
What is the subfloor under the carpet and pad? You can do a brown paper bag floor, and epoxy floor, vinyl plank, they even have new 3d floors....https://www.twinkledeals.com/3d-floor/deals/
Laminate - Wood - Vinyl - Lino - Tiles etc....
What flooring is under the carpet, hardwood, plain plywood? Tile. What you have to do depends on what is under it.
If you have cement foundation you could run into my problem. The concrete was not finished very well, lumps and dips so if I put anything other than carpet I will have the expense of refinishing the floor before I can do anything. I have opted to try carpet tiles that I can remove for cleaning.
Home Depot has a large selection on line. Reasonable prices and they will measure and install if you want.
