How is it that water gets to the flor? Where do you live? I ask because that's Not normal, although I heard of it in some places.
You could lay a small piece of sheet vinyl flooring under the fridge where no one could see it. However if there was a leak the water could get under the vinyl if you didn't notice the leak right away. If you have something wrong with the fridge and it's been leaking--fix it now! If you installed water resistant laminate flooring you have about 24 hours before your floor might get damaged!
Fridges usually come with a drip pan underneath but you can buy replacements if needed.
Bon Hello,. Your refrigerator should have a pan that catches water, and it should evaporate. Some you have to empty it. Check your owners manual to see where your pan is. Aloha!
I'm with you! There needs to be an option that guarantee it doesn't leak. Happened to me twice and what a hassle replacing the floor!
People give different advice but miss the the point. Question is what(plastic/vinyl,etc) kind of protector should I put under refrigerator to protect in case(for what ever reason) water leaks under refrigerator ? It can be moisture or little, slow water overflow from underneath pan, or defrost ice water leak, etc. You want water to come out in front so you notice quickly and use towel/rug to absorb it before damaging the wood floor. Point is protector protects wood area under refrigerator and it gives you chance to notice water leak and take temporary action to prevent wood damage before fixing real issue of water leak. Otherwise, would mess up hardwood under refrigerator before you find out.
So, is it ok to put a thin some kind of plastic protector under refrigerator ? I would say cut old vinyl or plastic mat that use under office chair or anything that is moisture/water/low heat resistance.

Depends on what is leaking on where and how much water you want to contain. If it is a break in the line leading to your ice maker you are in trouble no matter how big the container is to catch rogue water.
