There are several tools made for this. If you are removing just a small area, a heavy duty flat blade hand tool and a hammer will usually work.
We took up our kitchen tile pretty easily. Then there were spots of quick set still sticking to the floor. Hubs wanted to get out his steel wheel for his drill but I said absolutely NOT! I refused to have dust fill up my vents and coat everything.
We sat down on the floor with blades and small hammers and it easily came up with a tap.
Sure, it took a couple of hours of tedious, but easy work, but less time than cleaning up the dust would have taken!
