Do I try my lavender plants to the ground before they grow this year?

I have 2 lavender plants that I put in the ground last year. They were beautiful and are huge. Should I trim them back down to the ground BEFORE they start growing this year or leave them alone?

Click below to read an article about trimming lavender plants. According to this article, the best time to trim is in mid-August. A light trim this time of year will delay the lavender plant which is good if you have roses. Wishing you the best.
