Is it possible to grow hydrangeas in South Florida?

I live in South Florida. Very humid, very rainy. I love hydrangeas and lilacs. Can they thrive in these tropical temps? Container, in ground, or both?

Hydrangeas will be find -- Lilacs require a colder environment

Try the paniculatas of peegees because they can take more direct sun.
