Orchids normally require a very warm and humid environment and are generally grown in special green houses... where they are misted every day... in a normal home environment... no matter how good our intentions... that doesn't happen.... and they are given high amounts of fertilizer to make them bloom... and they don't get that either.
They need to be fed but not over watered and after a year re-potted in Orchid compost....
Let them soak in water for 5 minutes on the same day of every week and let drain. They are an air plant and love hanging in a tree. If you call a florist they have all the info.
