First, where did you look for information? This is a very simple Google search. All you have to type is: "how to make mulch" - hundreds of options will pop up. I teach people how to Google and use search engines, which is why I ask. Many people have no idea how to effectively use them to their advantage. Here are 3 reliable sources.https://www.bobvila.com/articles/how-to-make-mulch/https://www.todayshomeowner.com/how-to-make-wood-chip-mulch-for-your-yard/https://m.wikihow.com/Make-MulchHelpful Reply -

Mulch can be whatever small-sized particles, like lawn clippings, compost etc. you have in the garden. To avoid any odd smells, or for a more consistent look, you can buy mulch/bark chips, etc in bags. To get it to really suppress weeds, you'll need to make it and keep it at least 4 inches thick. If you're just looking for dressing up your yard,it can be thinner, but you may have to hand weed.Helpful Reply -
