How do I save this plant?

I have a plant that belongs to my mother before she passed away. I have struggled to keep it online for the past 5 years but I have managed. her spirit lives within it but it is slowly dying. I know it needs to be transplanted into new soil. There's only two varieties of this plant. One is white with pink blossoms. The other is lavender with green leaves with pink blossoms. I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM & I sympathize with you. A bit of fertilizer never hurts; talking to the plant really helps - no I'm not nuts! A little extra TLC always helps!
This is a shamrock plant. My daughter has one that did the same thing. She thought it was dead but didn't have the heart to throw it out. She simply left it where it was and several months later it grew back! I think she continued to give it a little water regularly, but that was all. I figure it might just need some time to lie dormant because hers had been blooming quite a bit before it took it's downward spiral. I hope your plants survive, too.
Yes, it is an Oxalis (shamrock) plant, usually sold for St Patrick’s Day. I have had mine for years... it looks worse than yours when it is dormant in winter. In the summer months in MN I put it outside in the East (leafs will sunburn if too hot) and it grows huge again and beautiful! Don’t give up on it!
Hi Paul, I understand your connection with this plant, as I feel the same way about a begonia that my mother gave me. I hope you can save it and your idea of repotting it is a great one. We have to realize though, that plants, like people, don't live forever. It's the cycle of life. The truth is, your mother's spirit will go on living within YOU!
