Re-pot it in fresh soil.Once the weather is 55 degrees and above it can go back outside, allow to re-adjust before any pruning

There are two types of hibiscus plants, tropical and hardy. The plant shown appears to be a tropical which was probably purchased from a big box store. I live in Maryland and prefer hardy hibiscus that can withstand cold weather and remain outside. My plants have increased in size each year and are gorgeous. Some have blooms the size of saucers. I have them in large pots. They can be purchased from online nurseries and have "hardy" in description or ask customer service if in doubt.

Don’t bring it in next year! If it’s planted deep enough and oak leaves bundled around the tree to keep it insulated, it will survive here in Missouri. Ease it outside as we get these warm ups and put it into the ground soon! It needs heavy pruning in Spring but yours looks pretty parched and spindly. Sorry! I have loved a few to death myself;)! Pick a spot, dig your hole, toss in a little gravel for good drainage, turn top dirt under and stuff on the bottom to the top. Mix ground goodies like rotted leaves & stuff into the dirt going in and by end of Spring your baby should bounce back! After you plant it, cut those branches back by at least a third. It will get lots of flowers in a month or two!

    Good luck😎🌺😉

I live in Florida with hibiscus everywhere and did live in the Midwest fear not. Just ease that plant back outside and start watering it regularly give it some type of root and bloom fertilizer some fresh soil and it will take right off. A lot of Floridas hibiscus just got hit with a lite frost and have already started putting out new leaves. They are tough plants and you still have green so you shouldn't have any problems bringing it back.

Good to see a reply from a person that knows the Midwest yet lives in a warmer climate now. Thanks because I can be as wrong as rain in hades place😂 I love learning the cool ideas & things to build. I’ve kept the benches my Dad made just from years of living & not wasting. They are each different from whatever scrap wood he had on hand. Almost all had a private stash shelf down below. He hid it in the front from the way he built the bench. Surely wish both parents were still here to share their knowledge, guidance and the pure joy of them being in here. They would be proud I continue to try to fix & do things on my own. Also now having the sense to know when to hire the big guns!😂
